What I help with
Individual Psychotherapy for Relationship Difficulties
What we may explore
- Repeating relational patterns — difficulties that keep appearing with different people.
- Attachment and the expectations you bring to closeness.
- Conflict — the shapes it takes, and what tends to happen inside you when it does.
- Intimacy, vulnerability and the difficulty of being seen.
- Trust — offering it, losing it, rebuilding it.
- Family relationships and their continuing influence.
- Romantic relationships and the meanings you attach to them.
- Professional relationships, authority and responsibility.
- Separation and its aftermath.
- Loneliness — including within relationships that look full from the outside.
- Boundaries, and the difficulty of holding them without becoming rigid.
- The relationship you have with yourself.
Why familiar difficulties keep appearing
The people, situations and roles change, and yet the shape of what happens can feel strangely familiar. Individual psychotherapy provides a considered space to understand the patterns you carry into relationships — often patterns that made sense at some earlier point — and to think about what you would like to be different now.
I do not currently offer couples psychotherapy through this practice. If couples work is what you need, please seek out a therapist who explicitly offers it.
Practical
