Fees and frequently asked questions
Fees from £70 for a 50-minute session.
Fees and practical arrangements
Fees start from £70 for a 50-minute session. The fee and payment arrangements will be agreed clearly before your first session.
Sessions are usually held weekly at an agreed regular time. Maintaining a consistent time is an important part of the work, and it may not always be possible to rearrange a session within the same week.
Sessions cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, and missed sessions, are charged at the agreed fee. Planned breaks will be discussed in advance wherever possible.
The initial session is a paid therapeutic meeting, and making an enquiry creates no obligation to continue.
Common questions
How do I know whether therapy is right for me?
You do not need to be certain. An initial session is an opportunity to talk about what has brought you to therapy and consider together whether ongoing work feels appropriate.
What happens in the first session?
You can share what has brought you here, ask any questions you have, and experience how it feels to work together. There is no expectation of continuing.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to discuss?
No. Many people begin therapy without a clearly defined difficulty.
How often would we meet?
Sessions are usually held weekly at an agreed regular time.
Can I meet online?
Yes. Online sessions are available to adults based in the UK. Please let me know in advance if you expect to attend while abroad.
Where are Edinburgh sessions held?
At Edinburgh Therapy Centre, 19–21 Queen Charlotte Street, Leith, EH6 6BA.
Is psychotherapy confidential?
Psychotherapy is confidential subject to standard professional, safeguarding and legal limitations. I will discuss these clearly with you if they become relevant.
What happens if we decide not to continue?
If, after the initial session, either of us feels that another therapist would be a better fit, I will say so and can suggest sensible next steps.
Is this an emergency service?
No. Harry Edwards Psychotherapy is not an emergency or crisis service. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or attend A&E. In the UK you can also call the Samaritans on 116 123 at any time.
You do not need to have everything worked out before getting in touch.
A brief enquiry is enough to begin. You can share what has brought you here, ask a question and find out whether an initial session may be appropriate.
