International and continuing care
Continuing-care psychotherapy in the UK
Returning home after residential treatment can bring relief, but it can also feel unexpectedly difficult. The structure and intensity of treatment may fall away just as everyday pressures, relationships and responsibilities return.
I offer thoughtful, ongoing psychotherapy for adults returning or relocating to the UK after residential treatment in the United States or elsewhere.
Harry Edwards, MSc UKCP-registered psychotherapist In person in Edinburgh and online across the UK

Support beyond the treatment setting
Residential treatment can create the space needed to stabilise, reflect and begin making significant changes. The transition afterwards is different. Recovery must gradually become part of ordinary life — within work, family relationships, uncertainty and familiar patterns.
Continuing psychotherapy offers a consistent and confidential relationship in which to understand this transition, sustain the work already begun and respond thoughtfully when difficulties emerge.

How I work
I am an integrative and relational psychotherapist. This means I do not apply one fixed model to every person. Instead, we consider your history, present circumstances, relationships and individual goals together.
Therapy might involve understanding recurring patterns, exploring the emotional pressures beneath addictive or self-defeating behaviour, and finding more sustainable ways of managing everyday life. You can read more about how I work.
My clinical experience includes private practice, community mental-health services and specialist addiction treatment, including work with Castle Craig Hospital.
Where helpful, and only with your explicit consent, I can communicate with an existing treatment team or referring professional to support continuity of care.

For treatment professionals and families
Planning continuing care before someone leaves residential treatment can reduce uncertainty and help create a clearer bridge into life back in the UK.
I welcome enquiries from treatment centres, clinicians, case managers and family members. Where the prospective client agrees, I can participate in an initial handover conversation and maintain proportionate communication with relevant professionals.
The therapeutic relationship remains confidential, and any professional liaison will be discussed and agreed with the client.
Location, availability and fees
Face-to-face sessions are available at the Edinburgh Therapy Centre in Leith. Secure online psychotherapy is available to clients located throughout the UK.
Specialist continuing-care psychotherapy is £120 per 50-minute session. This separate fee reflects the additional transition planning and, where agreed, proportionate liaison with treatment professionals that may be involved.
Prospective clients, relatives and professionals may contact me while arrangements are being made overseas. Ongoing psychotherapy can begin once the client is physically located in the UK and it is professionally appropriate for us to work together.
