What I help with

Psychotherapy for Anxiety, Depression and Low Mood

Anxiety and low mood can be exhausting to carry, particularly when you appear to be functioning well from the outside. Psychotherapy offers a considered space to understand what is happening and how you may want to respond to it.

Signs this may be relevant

  • Persistent worry, overthinking or doubt.
  • Self-criticism that is difficult to interrupt.
  • Feeling flat, disconnected or emotionally numb.
  • Difficulty resting, sleeping or being present.
  • Continuing to function well at work while feeling distressed privately.
  • Impact on relationships, closeness or communication.
  • Avoidance of particular situations, conversations or feelings.
  • Repeating emotional cycles that are hard to explain.

How psychotherapy approaches it

Anxiety and low mood are rarely only a matter of thought patterns. They are usually connected to how you have learned to cope with feelings, relationships, expectations and pressure — often over many years.

Psychotherapy provides sustained attention to what you are actually experiencing, what may be contributing to it, and how you want to relate to it. Understanding something intellectually is not the same as experiencing it differently. Our work aims to make room for both.

Psychotherapy does not offer a guaranteed outcome or fixed timetable, but it can provide sustained attention to what you are experiencing and how you may want to respond. If you are struggling significantly, please speak to your GP as well.

A brief enquiry is enough to begin. You can share what has brought you here, ask a question and find out whether an initial session may be appropriate.
